Hey, I’m Linda Baber

Linda Baber is a storyteller fascinated by what happens when decorum collides with desire, and when the rules of society no longer protect the people who depend on them. In her historical romances, drawing on the textures of Regency and Victorian life, she writes about characters who are outwardly secure, wealthy, titled, respectable, yet inwardly uncertain, lonely, or afraid to name what they really want.

Persuading Julian grew out of Linda’s interest in the private lives of men who were taught to pursue pleasure, not vulnerability. By following a widowed aristocrat who cannot outrun either his grief or his appetites, she explores questions of class, consent, guilt, and second chances. The result is a story where sensual scenes are never separated from emotional cost, and where every choice leaves an imprint on the heart.

Linda’s writing is marked by layered characterization, unhurried emotional beats, and dialogue that allows humor and heat to coexist. She invites readers into spaces: bedchambers, drawing rooms, gardens after midnight, where characters finally say the things they have spent years avoiding. Above all, she is committed to giving her protagonists room to learn, apologize, grow, and ultimately claim love that feels complex, adult, and true. When she is not imagining new ways to complicate her characters’ lives, Linda is revising, researching, and listening closely to the emotional undercurrent of every scene she writes, always chasing honesty over ornament. She hopes her stories leave readers feeling seen, stirred, and satisfied inside.
